LONG TERM VISA – D type visa (residence permit)

• D type long term visa application required if your stay is over 90 days. D type visa allows the holder to get residence permit in Hungary for the duration of the stay
• Each Schengen Member State has their own laws and regulations as to what is required to be approved for a D type visa
  • Act II of 2007 on the Admission and Right of Residence of Third-Country Nationals and the Government Decree 114/2007 (V. 24.) on the Implementation of Act II of 2007 on the Admission and Right of Residence of Third-Country Nationals
• When applying for a D type visa, the Consulate General of Hungary Chicago is an intermediary, when receiving the visa application, the Consulate will forward it to the competent regional direcorate of the Office of Immigration and Asylum in Hungary 
• Required documents vary depending on the purpose of the applicants' stay in Hungary:
  • Residence Permit for the Purpose of Studies
  • Residence Permit for the Purpose of Employment
  • Residence Permit for the Pursuit of Gainful Activity
  • Residence Permit for the Purpose of Intra-corporate Transfer and Permit for Long-term Mobility
  • Residence Permit for the Purpose of Research
  • Residence Permit for Other Purposes
